The purpose of the Capital Case LitigationInitiative is to provide attorneys with training on capital punishment issues in order to improve representation of indigent defendants charged with capital crimes. This document provides all the information required for applying for a grant as well as an overview of the program. This source was included in the pathfinder because it illustrates steps taken by the government to decrease the likelihood of innocent people being put to death.
The death penalty is one of the most controversial topics facing society today. This issue has been of interest to me since I was young and I believe that a pathfinder on the death penalty would be a useful tool for anyone interested in the subject, whether in a public or academic setting. The sources in this pathfinder include government publications, webpages, legislation, case law and three non-government sources. These topics were chosen in an attempt to represent both sides of the issue.
