The Recommendations Concerning the Cost and Quality of Defense Representation page of the United States Courts website concentrates on the costs, availability and quality of a defendant's representation in a capital penalty case. This page provides information on the 1998 report of the Subcommittee on Federal Death Penalty Cases and addresses the various concerns related to death penalty defense, the qualifications of attorneys, the death penalty authorization process and budgeting concerns. This is an excellent source for obtaining information on the legal defense of individuals, attorney qualifications and costs associated with capital crime defense.
The death penalty is one of the most controversial topics facing society today. This issue has been of interest to me since I was young and I believe that a pathfinder on the death penalty would be a useful tool for anyone interested in the subject, whether in a public or academic setting. The sources in this pathfinder include government publications, webpages, legislation, case law and three non-government sources. These topics were chosen in an attempt to represent both sides of the issue.
